One of our customers posed a very good question that I am sure most homeowners are not sure what to do about. What exactly do you do when the vent for your heating, air conditioning, or both, come out of the floor or are right where you are going to be installing your kitchen cabinets or bathroom vanity?
Sure you can always move the vent, but then you have added labor costs. Some people even vent the duct right into the cabinet, but then you are wasting that heating or cooling air (and it could cause moisture problems down the road). The best way to handle a floor vent or even low wall vent is to vent it through the toe kick of the cabinet. Most home supply stores will sell an extension piece that will help transfer the air out the front of the toe kick, ensuring that you are not looking that valuable hot or cold air.
By venting it through the toe kick, it greatly expands the design possibilities for your kitchen or bathroom. So if you are getting ready to remodel your kitchen or bathroom, and have a challenging vent to work around, feel free to email us and we will try to come up with the best solution possible. We love getting customer feedback, so if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to contact us with your question or design challenge.
